Irritable Bowel Syndrome is a functional disorder, meaning that it’s a problem with how the intestines work, not a deficiency in the organ itself. So managing the symptoms is the key to reducing pain and discomfort.

Stress causes intestinal spasms in people with irritable bowel syndrome, so reducing stress is a key part of treating the condition.

My options include;

  • counseling
  • meditation (join your local Yoga)
  • regular excercise - just walking in the park about twice a week helps motion
  • relation excercises - I personally took up Pilates
  • Deep breathing - practised in Pilates
  • Hypnosis - Paul McKenna’s Audios are equally as good
  • Biofeedback - The jury is still out with this one.

Next week we can look at Diet options…….
