Glucosamine and Chondroitin are both natural chemicals within the body that are used to develop cartilage. Cartilage in the body serves as a natural shock absorber of sorts within our joints, and this is what prevents all of our bones from rubbing together. While our bodies do create some Glucosamine and Chondroitin, taking supplements of both of these natural chemicals can boost the production of new cartilage within our bodies which is especially important as we age, and as our cartilage naturally begins to thin.

As cartilage in our bodies begins to thin, our bones can begin to rub together which creates problems relating to osteoarthritis. Studies have shown that pain associated with osteoarthritis can be relieved, and that cartilage function can be improved when supplements like these are taken in conjunction with pain relief medications. While the studies performed regarding the effectiveness of Glucosamine and Chondroitin have been limited, they have been high quality studies producing safe results with fewer side effects than a number of other medicines.

So what is Glucosamine?

Glucosamine is a sugar that the body naturally produces, and it is one of the building blocks that contributes to the development of healthy cartilage. There are two different forms of Glucosamine; Glucosamine Sulfate and Glucosamine Hydrochloride. Most Glucosamine supplement products are developed using the shells from crab, lobster and shrimp. Glucosamine supplements are available in liquid and tablet form, and are usually offered in combination with another supplement; Chondroitin.

Studies have shown that Glucosamine Sulfate reduced pain more than a placebo. Studies have also suggested that this supplement is capable of slowing down the breakdown of cartilage. Studies on Glucosamine hydrochloride show it may be able to contribute to the regrowth of cartilage, but it did not have as notable an effect on pain management.

So what is Chondroitin?

Chondroitin is also a natural substance that the body creates, and it is believed that Chondroitin is capable of drawing nutrients and water into the cartilage, which allows it to remain healthy and spongy. Chondroitin supplement products are Chondroitin Sulfate, which is commonly derived from shark or bovine cartilage.

Studies on the effectiveness of Chondroitin have been mixed relating to the reduction of pain, but much evidence has been shown that Chondroitin can slow the breakdown of cartilage and has had a positive effect on the repair of damaged cartilage. This in itself can reduce pain in the long run.

Why Combine Glucosamine and Chondroitin?

Recent studies are beginning to show promising results regarding the effectiveness of a combination of Glucosamine and Chondroitin for pain relief and cartilage support. A combination of these two supplements has been successful at reducing both moderate and severe pain resulting from Osteoarthritis. While the results of some studies are not conclusive, these natural supplements are showing promising results for enhancing the growth of cartilage and slowing natural cartilage breakdown.

At present most studies have been conducted for knee joints, with other joints like the hands and hips also showing much promise.

Acid Reflux, another term for heartburn, is a disease which is created by a simple imbalance of chemical make-up in the body–the attack of acid reflux in the esophagus when it is supposed to be in the stomach only.

The fact that Acid Reflux, the acid indigestion, affects not just adults but also infants and children, make it essential for everyone to be aware of its symptoms and how it can be prevented.
Since the Acid Reflux is triggered by various foods like chocolate, citrus fruits, spicy foods, including fried and fatty foods. Together with the time of day the foods are eaten and over eating which causes excessive weight. Therefore, the key to avoid the heartburning uneasiness brought by the Acid reflux also lies on the foods.

Truth in studies show that a specific food can head out acid reflux, so it is vital that everyone must take a careful observation of their eating habits. Nevertheless, any person who is suffering from Acid Reflux needs a diet that would suit to treat the illness, the foods that should be taken and those which should not be.

Now, you might be wondering what could be the best diet to observe to avoid acid reflux, the heartburn-free recipes that are fitted to an Acid Reflux diet. It was distinguished that drinking milk can be a speedy cure to alleviate acid reflux trouble. Although, milk produces an action and encourages discharge of more stomach acid, causing then acid reflux.

So, people affected by heartburn should follow a diet wherein they eat a small meal during dinner and follow it up with a small snack before they go to sleep, crackers for instance. Likewise, they should make sure that they their meal are rich in complex carbohydrates. This includes breads, rice and pasta; this fixes the excessive acid in the stomach, hence, giving it an easy feeling.

The condition known as inflammatory bowel disease affects a person’s digestive system. The digestive system includes the organs from the anus to the mouth and is regarded as being an external body part. The digestive tract contents contain germs and bacteria and is said to be ‘dirty’ while the internal body parts do not contain bacteria and are clean.
Bacteria in the digestive system promotes the digestion of food - ideally the major part of the digestion process should occur from enzymes present in whole raw food stuffs but modern diets (mostly Western) are made up of large quantities of processed foods and sugar which increases fermentation processes in the intestines. Regardless of the process (enzymes or fermentation), bacteria has an important function. For example, a person who is taking antibiotics may suffer from diarrhea because ‘good’ bacteria in the intestines are destroyed.

Although inflammatory bowel disease may occur anywhere within the digestive tract, most people experience problems with the large or small (lower) intestines. The condition falls within the category of Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis which affects the manner in which food is converted into nutrients in the intestines.

Between 1 and 2 million American citizens suffer from this condition mostly in the age group 15 to 30 years although older adults and younger children are also diagnosed. The condition is more prevalent in industrialized countries (Western) where exposure to stress, processed foods and sugar is considerably higher. Research results are unable determine conclusively what the causes of the condition are and there are theories that it involves dietary, environmental or genetic factors and are more biological than emotional.

The condition must not be confused with irritable bowel syndrome which does not physically or biologically change the intestines - irritable bowel syndrome appears to be caused mainly by emotional or stress related issues.

There are many opportunities to make money online and the first rule if you are on a tight budget is not to go spending on every money-making plan that you see. Pick one way to earn that suits your lifestyle and follow the advice that it gives right to the end.

Most online money making opportunities can be started for FREE, some just require an investment of less than $50 a month to start - yet your earning potential is unlimited.
If you choose something realistic that does not make outrageous promises you have a very good chance of being able to make money with it, even if growth is not as fast as you wildly hoped. So see it through and when you have it earning more or less on autopilot, then you are ready to expand.

You will probably need to invest a little to learn how to make money online, but if you are on a budget you should research carefully to first decide what method you want to follow and what it will cost. Keep your costs low and choose something that will allow you to quickly cover your costs so that anything you make from then is profit.

Another helpful technique in diagnosing colon cancer is the stool-guaiac test or occult stool blood test which helps the doctor detect blood in your stool that is invisible to the naked eye. You should have one annually after the age of 50.

The results of this test will determine whether you need other screening procedures for colon cancer such as proctosigmoidoscopy and colonoscopy. What are these tongue-twisters?

In the former, the doctor uses a flexible, lighted tube called a proctosigmoidoscope to examine the lower portion of the colon and rectum - the area where cancers are usually found. This should be done initially at the age of 45 and every other year thereafter depending on your condition. For those with a family history of the disease, more frequent tests are required.

“Almost 50 percent of all colorectal cancer or polyps can be seen during such an examination. In addition, diagnosis of other diseases such as Crohn’s or ulcerative colitis can be made with this instrument. Samples of tissue can be taken through the instrument for later examination under a microscope (biopsy),” said Dr. David E. Larson, editor-in-chief of the “Mayo Clinic Family Health Book.”

Colorectal cancer - commonly known as colon cancer, or bowel cancer - is any cancer that affects the last section of the digestive system. This usually means the colon (large bowel) or rectum (back passage).
Colon cancer is caused by the abnormal growth of cells in the lining of the bowel. Usually small lumps called polyps begin to form.
Commonly these lumps are referred to as tumours.

What does colorectal mean?
Colorectal is a word which means ‘the colon and rectum’. The colon and rectum are parts of the gut (gastrointestinal tract). The gut starts at the mouth and ends at the anus. When we eat or drink the food and liquid travel down the oesophagus (gullet) into the stomach. The stomach churns up the food and then passes it into the small intestine
.
Incidence and mortality
There are more than 12,500 new cases each year. The risk of being diagnosed by age 85 is 1 in 10 for men and 1 in 15 for women. More than 4372 people die of colorectal cancer each year.

Interventions to alleviate the impact of colorectal cancer
Psychological distress is common in patients with all forms of cancer and usually remains undetected.42 Diagnosis is difficult because the symptoms of depression, anxiety, effects of treatment, and the cancer itself, overlap. Furthermore, differentiating depression from profound sadness and from demoralisation is not easy. Core features of depression include: persisting negative thoughts about self and the future, inability to take pleasure from day to day activities and a wish to self-harm. Biological features such as insomnia are commonly due to the cancer itself and its treatment

Risk Factors For Colorectal Cancer
· Age: the older you are, the more likely you are to develop CRC. Most of those diagnosed are 70 years or older.
· Heredity: you are more likely to get CRC if someone in your family, especially your immediate family, has been diagnosed with it.
· Diet: a diet high in red meat and low in fruits and vegetables may increase your risk.

We are going to dedicate a few articles on Colon Cancer, because most IBS sufferers ask that question”Would I get Colon Cancer?

People often think of the colon as simply an organ that rids the body of its waste. If not treated properly, the colon can develop problems and potentially diseases. These issues can make us uncomfortable, sick and can even be fatal if not treated right away.

First, there is colorectal cancer- or cancer of the colon or rectum. This disease is the fourth most common cancer in both genders and is curable if treated in its earlier stages. Symptoms of colorectal cancer can include, but are not limited to, blood in the stool, narrower stools, a change in bowel habits, and discomfort in the abdomen. Screening is important in detecting the cancer because it is more difficult to treat as it progresses. Treatments can include chemotherapy, radiation, surgery or a combination of those.

Colonic polyps are extra pieces of tissue that grow inside the body. These growths can become cancerous if they are not removed. Those at risk for polyps include people over 50 years of age, a history of polyps, and a family history with polyps and/or colon cancer. Polyps generally do not bring symptoms, but bloody stools, bleeding after a bowel movement or extensive constipation and diarrhea can occur.

Ulcerative colitis causes sores and inflammation in the rectum’s lining. These ulcers tend to form where the rectum’s lining’s cells are killed from the inflammation. Bleeding then occurs, creating pus. Diarrhea can be a symptom of ulcerative colitis, as the colon empties frequently when this ailment is present.

Irritable bowel syndrome is a disorder that is defined by its symptoms- cramps, abdominal pain, bloating, constipation and diarrhea. IBS doesn’t do permanent damage, but does cause discomfort and distress due to its side effects. It can often be controlled with diet, stress management and medications.

Pleasurable yes! Healthy, not always. So what is the basic purpose of food and how does it affect our health?
The basic purpose of food is to provide nutrients to the body so that it can function. Certain nutrients are necessary to combine with oxygen to create energy for physical activity and for all internal functions, including repairing and building cell tissue.

But food and nutrition don’t always go “hand in hand.” And without nutrition, the body can’t function its best. Health and energy ultimately suffer.

Definition of Nutrition

Nutrition simply means something that nourishes. To nourish means “to feed or sustain with substances necessary to life and growth.” Not everything that is called “food” contains nourishment! And just because a product has a nutrition facts label, that is no guarantee that there’s any nutrition in it. That’s why “junk food” is called “junk” - because it has a lot of calories but no real nourishment - no nutritional value!

Are you sick and tired of hearing that you should eat a high protein diet with vegetables at every meal? How boring is that?! Most of us tend to crave foods with more flavoring which are usually high in fat and processed with little nutritional value. The result is a toxic colon which causes constipation, stool hardening and more serious problems if not taken care of properly. So, what preventative steps can we take ensure a healthy colon in this fast food culture we live in today?

The colon is located in your large intestine and its job is to complete the digestion process by removing waste after the small intestine absorbs food nutrients. The food and drinks you put into your body create cells for regeneration. They feed the immune system which affects mood, behavior, sleep, sleep patterns, cognitive ability and performance. That’s why we need to force ourselves to eat smarter instead of easier with pre-packaged meals read to go.

Colon cancer is the 2nd largest cause of cancer in the U.S. only following lung cancer. One of the major contributing factors of this disease is a diet rich in fatty foods along with a sedentary lifestyle. To help prevent colon problems drink plenty of fresh water (preferably filtered or spring); embrace a healthy diet of green leafy vegetables, fresh fruit, oats, and whole grains. Also, chicken, turkey, and fish along with foods high in fiber are adequate a few times a week.

While some patients don’t want to know their chances of survival, there

are also others who get an honest mesothelioma prognosis from their

doctors. Of course, they may have different reasons for wanting to know.

If you are a mesothelioma patient interested in the same thing, then you

have the right to know. Do keep in mind though that there are various

prognosis sources. Here are some important points you should consider

when reading about asbestos cancer prognosis.

Prognosis Data
The Sources of Data - The first thing you should understand is where

prognosis data comes from. Real prognosis information is based form

statistical data. Researchers look into different mesothelioma cases

through clinical studies to get average figures. This may mean that

genuine prognosis information may be true for a large number of patients.

This does not mean though that the information is always true.

Mesothelioma is different from other forms of cancer. This is because a lot

of different factors can affect mesothelioma. Some of these include your

overall health, treatments taken, time when treatment began,

mesothelioma type and severity of the condition. It is therefore important

not to view prognosis information as absolutely true in your case.
